Solid Showing For Hawks In Camlachie Tournament
The Pee Wee Boys participated in a weekend tournament in Camlachie June 9-11.
They kicked off the weekend with a gutsy bounce-back 8-1 win against the Corunna Giants who had beaten the Riverhawks badly just two days prior.

Saturday morning, the Hawks were back in action at 8:30 am taking on the Dresden Tigers. It was a pleasant surprise for the coaching staff to see the kids come to play and be ready to go first thing in the morning. Typically mornings have not been kind. On this day, we came to play and were able to defeat Dresden by a score of 9-5. Game 3 saw the Riverhawks square off against a strong team from Wallaceburg. Our boys battled hard but came up a little short, losing 7-4 to the eventual tournament winners. Losing game 3 forced a rematch with Corunna on Sunday morning. This time, the Giants were just too much to handle and they eliminated the Riverhawks from the tournament with a 13-1 win.

Losing is never fun, but there were many positives to take away from this weekend of ball. We have four more games under our belts, we won a pair of games and we played in a semi-final on Sunday, which is always the goal in any baseball tournament. The team improved by leaps and bounds, even while missing some of our key pieces. Hayden Duncan came up and helped us out from the mosquito team and did a fantastic job as a utility man, filling in wherever we needed him. Thank you Hayden! If this team continues to play with that kind of effort and improves at this pace throughout the rest of the season, we will find ourselves in a great position by year end!

Great job to all of the kids and parents for your hard work and commitment to ball even though it was a couple of pretty early mornings! Big thanks also go to the Camlachie Association for all of their hard work hosting a great tournament!

The boys are back in action at home tonight (June 14) against the Dresden Tigers at 6:15!

Go Hawks!
