Rookie Ball Blue, Baseball, 2017 (Alvinston Minor Ball)

Well as fast as our season started it has now come to an end.  Alvinston hosted this years Rookie River League yearend tournament and we played quite well and provided all of our fans with some great entertainment.  After having a couple games cancelled by Blenhiem over the last few weeks of the season we only had one tune up game to prepare for the yearend.  That game was last Monday against our bitter rivals (and some of our best friends) Alvinston White.  We played that game in Watford and Blue came out on top by a score of 9-6. We finished off the second half of our home and home against Dresden on Friday.  We played a great game and Dresden showed some big improvements over the last time we played. Every player had a ball hit to them in the field and we showed great hustle getting the ball and making defencive plays. We also did very well at the plate with Ryan leading the way going 3 for 3 with all 3 hits being doubles.  Our player of the game however was Sammy for his stellar defence playing first making 5 of our outs by himself.  Great Job RB Blue! On to the next one. GO RIVERHAWKS!!!

I'm a little behind but better late than never.  Over our last 2 games we have 1 loss and 1 win.  June 23 we played Riverhawks Red with a short bench and they took advantage.  We were missing 3 players and it left some holes in the defence and our bats were a little cold.  We ended up with a 6-5 loss but theres always some positives to take out of the game.  Dax was our player of the game with huge props given to Ryan for a great job behind the plate.

Last night we played Wyoming Blue at home and they are really turning out to be a rival for us.  We have played them 4 times in the last two weeks and they've had our number the last 3 after us taking the first one.  We played very well and our bats were very active. Sam Aarts was playing catcher and did an excellent job behind the plate. Trenton was at pitcher and proved his toughness after taking a line drive off the hand and sticking with the play and trying to get the runner at 1st. Rookie Blue traveled down Confed to visit our closest rivals Wyoming #2 tonight.  It was cool windy but the kids played hard and managed to come on top for our 2nd victory of the season 6-0. We left the bases loaded twice or we could have really blew the game open.  We put together some timely hits, especially Zach and Blake with back to back doubles to lead off the last inning to really seal the W.  Again we had some great defence and didn't allow a hit to get to the outfield.  Tonight's player of the game was 2 for 2 at the plate and made the play of the game throwing a runner out at 1st ...
